Mornington Peninsula Walk - Walk Overview
The Mornington Peninsula Walk follows a roughly triangular route around the south-western end of the Peninsula. It combines the wild Bass Strait surf beaches (such as Gunnamatta and Portsea Surf Beach), the dreamy aquamarine Bay beaches and the natural vegetation and wildlife haven of Greens Bush.
The Mornington Peninsula Walk has only been branded as such in recent times. In fact, it’s largely a compilation of four pre-existing and well-known trails:
the ‘Two Bays Walking Track’, from Dromana to Cape Schanck;
the ‘Coastal Walk’, from Cape Schanck to London Bridge;
‘Point Nepean walks’, from London Bridge to Portsea (and out to Fort Nepean);
the ‘Bay Trail’, from Portsea to Dromana.
The Mornington Peninsula Walk is particularly appealing for those who like some compensation for their exertions. There are high quality boutique accommodation options along the way and some excellent dining options. The Peninsula’s well-known hot springs complex is en route and makes for a therapeutic day/half-day break. Sorrento and Portsea have plenty of attractions and also serve well for some R&R.
The Mornington Peninsula Walk is well maintained and graded easy. It is easily accessible by car or public transport (train, then bus) with Dromana being located 80 kilometres south of Melbourne. We can help you book a walking holiday along the Mornington Peninsula Walk and assist with transport, accommodation and travel insurance.
