Multi-Day Walks on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula

A consequence of COVID-caused international travel restrictions is that walking tour operators who have previously focused on foreign destinations have turned to their own backyard. This has led to a boom in new guided and self-guided walk offerings in Australia.

Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula has benefitted from this development. Whilst it has long been a holiday playground for Victorians, the Peninsula has not (until recently) had a ‘signature’ multi-day walk or walking holidays compiled by specialist walking tour operators.

That has now changed. First, local authorities have created the 100 km ‘Mornington Peninsula Walk’. The MPW follows a roughly triangular route around the south-eastern end of the Peninsula. It’s mainly a compilation of existing trails but work has been done to knit them together.

The many attractions of the Mornington Peninsula Walk have drawn in a number of walking tour operators. This is great for the consumer as their walks are all a bit different and pricing varies accordingly. Most of them offer both guided and self-guided options and in all cases you won’t need to carry more than a day-pack. Suffice to say, you will be able to find a product that suits you perfectly.

The Mornington Peninsula Walk combines wild Bass Strait surf beaches (such as Gunnamatta and Portsea Surf Beach), dreamy aquamarine Bay beaches and the extensive tracts of natural bush that run between Dromana and Cape Schanck.
