Gower Peninsula

The Gower Peninsula, on the south Wales coast, is famous for its coastal scenery and was the first area in the United Kingdom to be designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. As such, this is a popular destination for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Covering an area of 70 square miles, the Gower Peninsula features magnificent limestone landscape and diverse terrain. The Peninsula projects west into the Bristol Channel and is punctuated by welcoming villages. Its southern gateway is the bustling city of Swansea.

The northern coast features sand dunes, whilst the southern coast consists of a series of spectacular rocky bays including Rhossili Bay and Three Cliffs Bay. The unspoilt scenery also includes grassy saltmarshes, rugged cliffs, coves and panoramic headlands such as Whiteford Point and Port Eynon Point.

The Gower Peninsula offers a number of day and multi-day walks and there are several tour operators offering a variety of walking trips.

The most well-known multi-day walk on the Gower Peninsula is the Gower Coast Path, a trail that traces the Peninsula’s coastline for a distance of 104 kilometres. This walk has plenty to offer - cliff-top walking, wonderful coastal views, picturesque beaches, ship wrecks and welcoming villages. The Gower Coast Path forms part of the Wales Coastal Path, a trail that follows the entire Wales coastline.

However, there are other multi-day walks on the Gower Peninsula, including some considerably shorter than the Gower Coast Path. And the walking tour operators have developed walking itineraries suited for all. We can help you choose a walk and an operator that best suits your needs.

The Gower Coast Path is just one of many walks on the Gower Peninsula we can tell you about, and help you to plan and complete.
