The Freycinet National Park is renowned for its pink granite mountain range The Hazards, its sheltered bays, azure waters and white sand beaches. Of those beaches, Wineglass Bay is the most celebrated and regularly features in listings of the world’s best beaches. Sunrise and sunset are the ideal times to admire the pink granite mountains.
Situated on Tasmania’s east coast, the Park occupies most of the Freycinet Peninsula. The Park is located 193km north east of Hobart and 175km south east of Launceston.
There are numerous trails through the Freycinet National Park including short walks, half day treks and multi-day hikes. There are accommodation options in the Park ranging from camping to luxury eco-resorts. Accommodation is also available in the nearby coastal towns of Coles Bay, Swanick, Swansea and Bicheno.
Freycinet National Park offers a wide variety of activities including kayaking, swimming, snorkelling and bird watching. The Moulting Lagoon Game Reserve situated at the northern end of Great Oyster Bay provides a wetland sanctuary for black swans, water fowl, sea eagles, gannets, and migratory birds.
